Russian air defense systems managed to intercept seven enemy 'Storm Shadow' missiles today in Ukraine; besides a PATRIOT air defense system was destroyed by a Kinzhal Hypersonic missile strike near Kyiv.
“Air defense systems intercepted seven Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles during the day,” said Russian Ministry of Defense, spokesperson Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov.
This follows the interception of the Storm Shadow cruise missile yesterday, the first such interception of the Ukraine war.
"A high-precision strike by a Kinzhal hypersonic missile system hit a US-made Patriot air defense system in Kiev," the spokesperson said.
The RF Armed Forces also intercepted three HARM anti-radar missiles, as well as seven HIMARS MLRS rockets, Konashenkov added.
Ever since the U.K. gave an uspecified number of air launched Storm shadow missiles to Ukraine, it was expected this would challenge Russian air-superiority. However the relatively slow moving Storm Shadow missiles seem to have to meet their match, if the reports of their interception are true.
