A SCALP missile fired from a Ukrainian warplane hit a Russian Project 22800 Karakurt corvette in the Zaliv Shipyard in Krech.

Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Force of Ukraine, reported on his Telegram channel that a Ukrainian fighter aircraft conducted the strike. “Well done, it’s like using the SCALPel!” the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force wrote, hinting that the aircraft used a France-made ‘Scalp’ cruise missile.

The SCALP reportedly hit the Project 22800 Karakurt corvette, ‘Askold,’ which was presumed to be in the shipyard at that time. Ukrainian media released a video of a projectile hitting what looks like a ship. It is unclear from the video if it was from the Krech shipyard.

The Russian MoD is yet to comment on the Ukrainian claim.

Oleshchuk suggests that the Askold small missile ship was possibly destroyed, which is a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles.

Askold has been undergoing trials since October 2022 and has not yet been accepted into the Black Sea Fleet.

If the incident is confirmed, this would be the second effective attack by the Ukrainian Armed Force on a Russian shipbuilding facility in Crimea using SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles. Earlier, the Rostov-on-Don submarine and the Minsk landing ship were similarly hit.
