Babcock and Supacat have commenced the production of 70 High Mobility Transporter (HMT) Jackal 3s for the British Army.
The manufacturing process is underway at Babcock's Devonport site and Supacat's facilities in Dunkeswell, with an expected completion date by the summer of 2024.
The project highlights the close collaboration between Babcock, Supacat, the British Army, and the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) team. This collaboration ensures that the operational and safety requirements of the vehicle are comprehensively met.
The Jackal 3, an evolution of the successful Jackal 2, has undergone over a decade of development by Supacat. It features enhancements to meet operational requirements, including improved crew protection, increased gross vehicle mass for superior load carrying, and advanced suspension for better off-road performance. The vehicle's adaptability allows it to transform from a 4×4 into a 6-wheel drive, doubling its load capacity.
