A U.K. made “Storm Shadow” missile was shot down by a Russian Pantsir-M air defence system mounted on a Project 22800 small missile ship, Karakut (Cyclone) near the Crimean Coast.

This disclosure was made Oleg Ryazantsev, General Director of NPO High-Precision Complexes JSC which manufactures the Pantsir-M to the Russian MoD’s TV channel, TV Zvezda on Sunday.

The TV channel aired the image of an object on fire plunging to the ground  without specifying if this was the Storm Shadow after being hit by the Pantsir's missiles.

The ship, while on combat duty, hit a Storm Shadow missile, that is, we can talk about the first effective, successful use of the serial Pantsir-M complex,” Ryazantsev said in an interview with the Military Acceptance program of TV Zvezda.

He however did not specify the location and date of the intercept.

The Storm Shadow is one of the most potent weapons given by the West to Ukraine and is credited with severely damaging several ships in the Sevastopol naval base besides other key military targets.

According to another Russian source, the Pantsir-M’s new 1PC3 radar can detect small object such as the Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG missile from a distance where it can be effectively tracked and shot down by the Pantsir-M’s 40 high-speed 57E6 missiles which are capable of intercepting 8-10 missiles in a minute.
