U.A.E.’s EDGE Group has signed a $27 million (AED 99 million) agreement to establish an ammunition production line for PT Pindad, an Indonesian state-owned defense manufacturer.
The agreement involves the production of 5.56x45mm and 7.62x51mm caliber ammunition. It aligns with the Indonesian defense ministry’s goals to boost local job creation and strengthen sovereign manufacturing capacities. The new ammunition facility is projected to begin operations in 2026.
This collaboration is also part of a broader initiative between the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia to enhance bilateral trade. Under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, both nations aim to increase their trade volume to $10 billion by 2030.
Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto held talks with U.A.E. President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Monday. They focused on enhancing bilateral defense and military cooperation between their nations.
