Lockheed Martin has secured a $4.6 million DARPA contract to develop AI tools tailored for dynamic, airborne missions under the Artificial Intelligence Reinforcements (AIR) program.

These tools will enhance Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capabilities and deploy dominant AI agents for live, multi-ship, beyond visual range (BVR) operations.

Over the 18-month period of performance, Lockheed Martin will utilize AI and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to create surrogate models of aircraft, sensors, electronic warfare systems, and weapons within operationally realistic environments. The goal is to enhance the speed and predictive performance of baseline models, aligning them more closely with real-world Department of Defense systems.

The project will leverage Lockheed Martin’s ARISE infrastructure and scientific ML technology to generate substantial data for quicker, more informed decision-making by service members.

The initiative is part of Lockheed Martin’s broader commitment to integrating AI and ML technologies into defense solutions, contributing to enhanced national security and cost efficiencies for the Department of Defense.
