Thales has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RTX to acquire full ownership of Thales Raytheon Systems Air and Missile Defense Command and Control SAS (TRS AMDC2), a French joint venture focused on NATO’s air defense capabilities.

The TRS AMDC2 entity, equally co-owned by Thales and RTX, has played a central role for over two decades in the development of NATO’s Air Command and Control System (ACCS). This system is designed to support both NATO member nations and the alliance’s command structure in managing airspace operations and missile defense coordination.

According to the announcement, the acquisition will involve consultations with employee representative organizations. Thales expects the transaction to be finalized by the end of 2025, subject to standard regulatory clearances and antitrust approvals.

The move is in line with Thales’ strategy to reinforce its presence in air command and control technologies and to align closer with evolving NATO operational requirements. The full integration of TRS AMDC2 will allow Thales to streamline operations and accelerate its contribution to NATO's long-term air defense modernization efforts.
