Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $1.45 billion contract modification to produce nine E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft.
This modification to a previously awarded contract will include four aircraft for the U.S. Navy and five for Japan, alongside additional support services. In March 2023, the U.S. approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Tokyo of E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft and related equipment for an estimated cost of $1.381 billion.
The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye is a key asset for early warning and control. Equipped with advanced radar and surveillance systems, it plays a crucial role in airborne early warning, command and control, and battle management.
This procurement will bolster the Navy's capabilities while enhancing Japan's defense capabilities through the Foreign Military Sales program.
