HAL, SAFHAL Helicopter Engines Sign Contract to Develop Engine for 13 Ton Helicopter

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and SAFHAL Helicopter Engines Private Limited (SAFHAL) have signed an agreement to collaborate on a new high-power engine project.

The joint effort will cover the design, development, manufacture, and support of the engine, named Aravalli.

The Aravalli engine is intended for use in the 13-ton Medium Lift class helicopters.

It will power the Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) and the Deck-Based Multi-Role Helicopter (DBMRH), both of which are being developed by HAL.

The Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) is a 13-ton multi-role helicopter being designed by HAL for the Indian armed forces.

A naval variant, the 12.5-ton Deck-Based Multi-Role Helicopter (DBMRH), is also under development by HAL for the Indian Navy.
