The Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) is evaluating potential co-assembly and co-production of the Javelin anti-tank weapon system in India, engaging in a competitive selection process with Indian defense firms.

JJV, a collaboration between Raytheon, an RTX business, and Lockheed Martin, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a state-owned enterprise specializing in weapons production and system integration. The agreement aims to assess the feasibility of manufacturing Javelin in India to meet future requirements of the Indian Ministry of Defence.

JJV representatives have met with Indian industry leaders to explore long-term partnerships that would enhance India’s defense capabilities. “We look forward to exploring partnership opportunities to co-produce Javelin in India and better support its defense and security needs,” said Dave Pantano, JJV vice president and Lockheed Martin Javelin program director.

Javelin is widely used for anti-armor warfare and has been procured by 25 countries. Over 55,000 Javelin missiles and 12,000 Command Launch Units have been produced to date.
