EDGE-Fincantieri JV to Oversee U.A.E. Navy Fleet Support under €500M Contract

The U.A.E. Navy has awarded a €500 million contract to Maestral, the joint venture between Edge Group and Fincantieri, for fleet-wide in-service support over the next five years.

The agreement was announced at the IDEX/NAVDEX defense exhibition in Abu Dhabi and is managed by Tawazun Council, the U.A.E.’s defense procurement authority.

Maestral will act as the Industrial Strategic Partner, providing maintenance management, logistical support, and lifecycle services to enhance naval operations. The contract aims to strengthen the U.A.E. Navy’s fleet readiness while leveraging international and national shipbuilding expertise.

The partnership will integrate expertise from Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding (ADSB) and international shipyards, ensuring a broad technical and engineering base for fleet maintenance. Maestral, established in 2024, focuses on commercializing naval solutions, including ship design, manufacturing, and sustainment services.
