Patria will lead a €45 million European defence initiative to develop the Artificial Intelligence Warfare Adaptive Swarm Platform (AI-WASP), a scalable and AI-driven warfare system that integrates secure communications, RF surveillance, and electronic attack functions into a single airborne payload.
The programme will create a multifunctional, software-defined converged aperture and transceiver (AIMA) for use across both manned and unmanned autonomous platforms, designed to operate in varied environments, including arctic conditions.
The AI-WASP platform is intended to boost military capabilities in situational awareness, adaptive communication, and electronic warfare, addressing operational needs across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.
Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Italy, Greece, and Spain have signed a Letter of Intent to participate, committing national funds alongside the European Commission’s backing.
The 16-member consortium, coordinated by Patria, includes leading defence companies and research institutions from France, Germany, and Lithuania, among others.
