Russian President Vladimir Putin's helicopter found itself in the middle of a large-scale attack by Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) drones while on a visit to the Kursk region on May 20.
This was reported by the commander of the air defense division, Yuri Dashkin, on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
The intensity of the Ukrainian attack increased significantly during the flight of the aircraft with the supreme commander-in-chief over the region's territory, Commander Dashkin said on TV.
"Therefore, we simultaneously conducted an anti-aircraft battle and ensured the safety of the president's helicopter in the air," he said.
According to him, the Russian military repelled the drone attack and the President’s helicopter was escorted to safety.
Putin visited the Kursk region for the first time since the region was liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on May 20. The president met with volunteers at the local humanitarian headquarters. He was joined by the acting head of the region, A. Khinshtein, and the first deputy head of the presidential administration, S. Kiriyenko.
