Germany is reportedly preparing Taurus missile deliveries to Ukraine following the lifting of restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Kyiv.
Germany, following the U,K., the United States and France, has lifted all restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine. This was announced by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
“There are no longer any range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine, neither by the British, nor by the French, nor by us, nor by the Americans. This means that Ukraine can now defend itself, including, for example, by striking military positions on Russian territory. Until a certain point, it could not do this,” the German Chancellor was quoted as saying by the WDR television channel.
During his election campaign, Friedrich Merz advocated the transfer of German long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
With a range of 500 km, the Taurus could put industrial centers, army regrouping and deployment points, arms depots and critical infrastructure within range of the Taurus. The Taurus could be launched amid a screen of drone swarms to overhelm Russian air defenses, German media said.
100-150 Taurus missile for Ukraine likely
The Telegram Channel, Russian Weapons assumes that by early to mid-summer 2025, a batch of 100-150 missiles may well be at the disposal of the Ukrainian Air Force and will be adapted for use from the Mirage-2000-5F and F-16AM suspension units, the number of which by that time may reach 2 squadrons (24 aircraft). What does this mean?
The Taurus is considered superior to the British Storm Shadow missile in terms of deflecting Russian electronic attack and has a warhead with higher concrete penetrating ability all of which makes it perhaps the most potent weapon in the hands of the Urkainians.
