The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration has selected Lockheed Martin’s TPY-4 next-generation radar system to strengthen Sweden’s long-range air surveillance capabilities.

This makes Sweden the third country to adopt the fifth-generation ground-based radar platform, following the United States and Norway.

Lockheed Martin is scheduled to deliver the first TPY-4 radar systems to Sweden in 2027. The phased-array radar system is designed to detect and track airborne threats in real-time and will support the Swedish Air Force’s national defense and surveillance requirements.

The TPY-4 radar features an open architecture design, enabling integration with existing air defense systems. This supports Sweden’s efforts to strengthen coordination with NATO partners and regional forces.
