The Israeli Air Force struck military targets in Tehran on the afternoon of June 18, including what was reported to be a bunker possibly housing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

This is according to Clash Report. Explosions were heard across the Iranian capital as Israel intensified airstrikes on underground facilities and intelligence sites.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strikes were aimed at degrading Iran's military capabilities and included an assault on a bunker believed to be a high-level command center.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz separately announced that the headquarters of Iran’s internal security had also been destroyed in the capital.

The reported attack on a bunker possibly sheltering Khamenei came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump stated on social media that the United States knows Khamenei’s exact location. We know exactly where the so-called Supreme Leader is hiding. He is an easy target... but we are not going to take him out, at least not for now,” Trump said. He demanded Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER”, warning that patience is “wearing thin” as hostilities escalate.

The statement followed Trump’s decision to return to Washington from an international summit for urgent consultations with his national security team. He also urged Tehran’s population to evacuate the city.

Reports indicate that Israel has conducted multiple waves of airstrikes, including attacks on Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor and a nuclear weapons development site in Natanz. The Israeli military said it targeted the core seal structure of the Arak reactor, a key component in plutonium production. Several factories producing missile components were also hit.

At the same time, Iranian missile attacks have caused major damage at four locations in Israel, including Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. Israeli Health Minister Uriel Buso called the attack a “war crime,” saying Iran crossed a red line by targeting civilian medical infrastructure. Iranian state media IRNA claimed the main target was a nearby Israeli military intelligence facility, not the hospital.

Political fallout and international positioning

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, speaking after the G7 meeting in Canada, supported what she described as a growing consensus in the West: that regime change in Iran should come from within. “I always thought that the best scenario would be the overthrow of the regime by the oppressed Iranian people,” Meloni said. She emphasized that the key goal remains preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear-armed state.

Meanwhile, the death toll continues to rise. A human-rights group has reported over 639 deaths in Iran, while at least 24 people have died in Israel as a result of missile strikes.

The U.S. military is maintaining a buildup in the region, with a third Navy destroyer entering the eastern Mediterranean and a second aircraft carrier strike group moving toward the Arabian Sea. While Pentagon officials describe the deployments as defensive, they say the forces could enable swift intervention should President Trump authorize strikes.

President Trump is reportedly still weighing military options. Asked about the possibility of targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, including the fortified Fordow enrichment plant, Trump said, “I may do it, I may not do it.”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei has publicly warned against any U.S. intervention, stating that such action would bring “irreparable consequences.”
