Thales has signed a contract to deliver a Ground Master 400 Alpha (GM400α) radar to Albania as part of the country's air surveillance modernization program, the company announced at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget.
The agreement was finalized in the presence of France’s Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu and Albanian Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu.
According to Thales, it has tripled its radar production capacity in France, enabling delivery of over 30 Ground Master air surveillance radars annually.
The GM400α radar, due in 14 months, will boost Albania’s air surveillance with 515 km threat detection—covering low-flying drones and slow targets. Deployed globally, the all-digital system offers high mobility, rapid setup, and supports air sovereignty operations.
