The Kuwait Ministry of Defence has formally activated an in-service support option under its Eurofighter Typhoon programme, extending its agreement with Leonardo Aviation Services until December 2029.

Under the extended agreement, Leonardo Aviation Services will continue delivering integrated logistics support and training to the Kuwait Air Force, with all services provided locally at Salem Al Sabah Air Base.

The contract extension builds upon the original agreement signed in 2016, when Kuwait ordered 28 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to strengthen its national air defence capabilities.

According to Leonardo, as the programme’s prime contractor, the company is leading efforts to ensure the fleet’s operational readiness and long-term sustainability.

Deliveries of the Eurofighter Typhoons began in late 2021, with most of the aircraft now in active service. Built in Italy, the jets represent the latest production standard, featuring advanced technologies and capabilities.

Leonardo Aviation Services, based in Kuwait, plays a key role in supporting the Air Force through a comprehensive range of integrated logistics services, including engineering, maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade (MRO&U), supply chain management, and training for both air and ground crews.
