Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defense Paweł Bejda met Turkish Ambassador Rauf Alp Denktaş in Warsaw on August 6 to push forward defense and industrial cooperation.
The talks focused on transferring technology from Turkey to support Polish production of 120mm and 155mm ammunition. The plan is part of Poland’s drive to build local manufacturing and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
The officials also discussed the Polish Military Contingent operating in Turkey under NATO missions in the Mediterranean and Black Seas.
The meeting follows earlier talks in April between Bejda and Ilhami Keles, head of Turkey’s state defense firm MKE. MKE offered a full transfer of technology that would allow Poland’s PGZ S.A. to produce 155mm shell components domestically.
Poland is accelerating defense production in response to the war in Ukraine and the need for stronger military self-reliance.
