Ukrainian drone manufacturer Ukrspecsystems will invest £200 million ($250 million) in a new production facility in Mildenhall, Suffolk.

This is according to Evening News 24.

The project, set to be rolled out over the next three years, includes an 11,000-square-meter factory and the development of a testing and training center in nearby Elmsett. The move comes at a time when the Lotus car factory in Norfolk faces potential layoffs for more than 500 employees, with local authorities expecting the Ukrainian investment to ease regional job pressures.

Ukrspecsystems plans to expand further into the region with additional manufacturing sites and offer internships aimed at training future skilled workers.

Rory Chamberlain, MD-UK of Ukrspecsystems, revealed that production at the new factory is expected to begin next year. He noted that the combination of Ukrainian technology and British aviation expertise could position the company as a global player in unmanned systems for both civilian and military use.

Ukrspecsystems drones are also drawing international interest. Earlier this year, its Shark reconnaissance drone was spotted undergoing tests in the Czech Republic.
