The U.S. State Department has approved the sale to Finland of AIM-120D-3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and related equipment, valued at $1.07 billion.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the certification on September 10.
Finland’s request includes up to 405 AIM-120D-3 missiles and eight AIM-120D-3 guidance sections. The package also provides missile control sections, containers, Common Munitions Built-in Test/Reprogramming Equipment, test sets, spare parts, consumables, repair and return support, classified software, publications, personnel training, transportation, and logistics services.
RTX Corporation will serve as the principal contractor.
Finland joined NATO in 2023, alongside Sweden, after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 ended both countries’ policies of military non-alignment.
