The U.S. State Department has approved two proposed Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to Turkey, involving AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM and AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles, with a combined estimated value of $304.1 million.
According to a May 14 announcement by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the deals are intended to bolster Turkey’s air defense capabilities and strengthen U.S.-Turkey defense ties under the NATO framework.
The first sale, worth $225 million, includes fifty-three AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and six guidance sections. Additional items include missile containers, Common Munitions Built-in-Test Reprogramming Equipment (CMBRE), spare parts, software, technical documentation, and engineering and logistics support.
The second sale, valued at $79.1 million, covers sixty AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II All Up Round (AUR) missiles and eleven guidance units. The package also includes containers, spare parts, and related support services.
RTX Corporation will serve as the principal contractor for both missile systems.
