Lockheed Martin has announced it will upgrade the Republic of Korea Air Force’s (ROKAF) F-16 flight simulators to match the latest F-16V “Viper” aircraft.

These upgrades will improve the simulators so they better reflect the advanced features of the upgraded jets. Pilots will be able to train in realistic, high-quality environments that closely match real flight missions.

As part of the contract, Lockheed Martin will update nine F-16 simulators at Seosan and Chungju Air Bases. The upgrades will include new equipment and systems, and Lockheed Martin will also provide support for the simulators over the next six years.

According to Lockheed Martin, since 2001, pilots from 16 countries have trained using the company’s F-16 simulators. These systems allow pilots to practice using the same sensors, weapons, and controls as in the real aircraft. Multiple simulators can also be linked together for team training in various scenarios. The F-16V is an advanced version of the F-16. It includes a modern radar system, an upgraded cockpit, improved weapons, and new avionics. These upgrades make it similar to the latest F-16 Block 70 models.
