The U.S. State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale to Germany of AIM-120D-3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and associated equipment valued at $1.23 billion.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) confirmed the notification to Congress.
Germany has requested up to 400 AIM-120D-3 AMRAAM missiles, 12 guidance sections with Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) or M-Code precision positioning, and one AIM-120 AMRAAM integrated test vehicle. The package also includes telemetry kits, control sections, containers, ADU-891 adaptor group test sets, KGV-135A encryption devices, spare parts, support equipment, training, technical documentation, and U.S. government and contractor support services.
The missiles are intended for Germany’s F-35 fleet, strengthening its air-to-air capabilities and aligning with NATO planning, training, and operational requirements.
RTX Corporation will be the principal contractor for the deal.
