Kyiv has claimed that Sunday's Russian attack on energy and military targets in western Ukraine using waves of drones and missiles was guided by three Chinese reconnaissance satellites—Yaogan-33, Yaogan-33-03, and Yaogan-33-04 which were were allegedly detected over the Lviv region during the attack.

The satellites reportedly flew over the country's western regions nine times between midnight and 11:30 a.m.

The Sunday attack on military and energy facilities in western Ukraine involved some 700 Geran-2 drones and at least 50 missiles, most of which found their targets leading to suspicion that they may have been guided by satellite.

The information could not be confirmed from the Russian side. However, assuming Kyiv's claims are true, it appears that China is essentially testing its satellite constellation in real combat conditions to prepare for a future warfare with the U.S. over Taiwan or the Philippines.

In the past, Russia has alleged that U.S. and NATO satellites have helped locate targets inside Russia for Ukrainian missiles. With no response from Ukraine or its western backers.

However, many consider it an open secret that American satellite constellation is currently actively supplying intelligence to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to available data, approximately two dozen satellites are operating on behalf of the enemy.

If Kyiv's assertions are even partially true, this means that Moscow and Beijing have taken the first serious step toward military-space cooperation.

It's possible that this could involve the creation of a unified data processing center similar to the system currently actively used by the North Atlantic Alliance and the United States.
