Indonesian arms major, PT Pindad broke ground for a new factory in Batulicin, South Kalimantan, to manufacture ammunition of various calibers used by the country's defense forces.
Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin conducted the groundbreaking for the PT Pindad Munitions Factory in Batulicin, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, on July 4, 2026.
The construction of this production facility is expected to further strengthen national capabilities in meeting defense needs while enhancing the competitiveness of the nation's strategic industries.
In addition to supporting national defense interests, the construction of this factory is also expected to have a positive impact on regional development through increased economic activity, job creation, human resource development, and the growth of various supporting sectors in South Kalimantan.
In 2024, PT Pindad and Rheinmetall Denel Munition Proprietary Limited (RDM) signed a MoU to build an ammunition factory. This MoU was intended to establish a framework of cooperation between PT Pindad (Persero) and RDM in developing ammunition in Indonesia.
PT Pindad provides an extensive array of small-, large- and medium-caliber ammunitions from 5.56 mm to 105 mm artillery ammunition and also various type of grenades. Pindad continues to expand production of ammunitions and develop the ammunitions line based on the latest weapon technologies.
