L-3 Communications announced today that its Systems Field Support (SFS) division has been awarded contracts with a total potential value of more than $300 million over five years from the U.S. Navy (USN) and U.S. Air Force (USAF) to provide full Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) for their respective fleets of C-12 aircraft. Under the initial contracts valued at $32.9 million, L-3 will provide for the life-cycle support and maintenance of the USN and USAF fleets of C-12 aircraft, their systems, subsystems and support equipment anywhere in the world. "L-3 Systems Field Support is thrilled that the Navy and Air Force have selected us to continue providing CLS for their fleets of C-12 aircraft," said Gordon Walsh, acting president of L-3 SFS. "We firmly believe that this award is a testament to the trust and confidence that we've earned through a decade of outstanding performance." USN and USAF C-12 aircraft operate from worldwide locations to provide operational support for rapid, time-sensitive or high-priority movement of personnel and cargo, training pilots, and/or testing assets where needed. The C-12 support roles include range clearance, courier flights, medical evacuation and humanitarian rescue or assistance. In 2010, L-3 SFS was awarded a five-year, $440 million contract for Life-Cycle Contractor Support of C-12, RC-12 and UC-35 aircraft operated by the U.S. Army, Army Reserves and Army National Guard.
