Pakistani military Monday test fired the Babur cruise missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead with a range of 700 km. The missile was launched from a multi-tube missile launch vehicle that enhances the targeting and deployment options. The nuclear capable Babur has a range of 435 miles and can hit targets deep inside India. The test was conducted at an unspecified location. The Babur or Hatf-VII features is equipped with modern cruise missile technology like terrain contour matching and digital scene matching. Indigenously developed low flying terrain hugging multi-tube cruise missile can be used against targets at land and sea accurately. The missile has stealth features and can fly very close to the ground. “The test consolidates and strengthens Pakistan’s deterrence capability and national security,” a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations said.
