Azerbaijan To Export 100 UAVs To An Unnamed NATO Country

Azerbaijan plans to export 100 unmanned aerial vehicles to one of the NATO countries, Minister of Defense Industry, Yavar Jamalov told media Thursday.

Media reports did not specify the NATO country.

Jamalov said that at present there are 51 production sites at the plants of the Defense Industry Ministry of Azerbaijan.

“It is planned to commission five new plants and seven production sites by late this year. These plants will produce 40-46 mm grenade launchers and ammunitions for them. Plants will also start operating for production of M-6 and M-12 fuses and U-25 ammunition,” he said.

“Apart from that, we will start mass production of cartridges for arms with caliber ranging from 5.45 to 30 millimetres. All this is of great importance for our army,” he added.

In addition, plants producing explosives M-6 and M-12 and U-25 ammunition will start. In addition mass production of cartridges will start for all types of small arms caliber of 5.45 mm to 30 mm.

Jamalov noted that before the end of the first quarter of 2015 Azerbaijan will start production of ammunition for tanks and artillery systems caliber 55 mm to 100 mm. Azerbaijan will almost fully meet the needs of the national army for ammunition and shells for tanks and artillery.
