The US DoD has awarded AM General a $373 million contract to provide 2,082 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV), or Humvees.
“The contract includes spare parts and Humvees in a multi-year foreign military sale to Afghanistan, Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, Ukraine and Tunisia,” the US Department of Defense said in a statement Monday.
The completion of manufacturing is scheduled for April 29, 2016.
The deal was approved by the US Army Contracting Command. The contract comes in the wake of recent pledge by Defense Secretary Ashton Carter pledged to increase military supplies to the Ukraine.
On March 25, 2015, the United States delivered a first batch of ten Humvees to the Ukrainian military.
US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter had pledged last week to deliver at least 100 Humvees to Ukraine by the end of this month.
