Saab will deliver Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) test kits with advanced indication equipment to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency.

Early warnings to units and personnel are a key factor in limiting CBRN threats. With Saab’s integrated solutions, CBRN specialists and decision-makers will have tools for detecting and identifying a wide range of threats. They will receive support needed for fast and accurate early warning. Saab will assist the customer’s organisation in evaluating and integrating CBRND (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence) capabilities, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

The first delivery will take place in September 2016.

Saab’s CBRN solutions include systems for Automatic Warning and Reporting (AWR), sampling equipment, certified transport packaging and a wide range of services and CBRN training and support solutions for individual protection.

Saab’s advanced CBRN sampling equipment is a dynamic and customisable collection of field sampling equipment that can be combined and packaged to suit all customer requirements. The equipment consists of more than 300 different items for forensic sampling of CBRN agents. The transport packaging allows safe transportation of hazardous CBRN samples and toxic chemicals. The packaging is approved and certified for air, land, sea and rail transportation.

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is a government agency tasked with developing the society’s capabilities for preventing and dealing with accidents and disasters.

“The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency has previously purchased our certified transport containers, and after winning EU procurement, we’ve now signed a general agreement to supply a total of 27 kits with advanced test equipment to the agency in the large metropolitan areas. The agreement also includes the purchase of related consumables,” says Nils-Erik Lindblom, director of Marketing and Sales for CBRN at Saab.
