Rheinmetall Defence has signed its first Global Supply Chain agreement to provide Australian companies greater access to international supply chains.

“The Agreement will provide new commercial and defence opportunities in Rheinmetall’s international supply chain, and assist in breaking down barriers that may otherwise deter local firms from doing business in overseas markets.” The Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP said in a statement Thursday.

This agreement follows the recently announced extension to existing Global Supply Chain Program agreements with Thales and Raytheon, which will maximize export opportunities for Australian companies.

”As the Minister for Defence Industry, I am keen to ensure opportunities are maximised for Australian companies competing for Defence business and local companies are afforded every opportunity to compete for work in the supply chains of multinational defence companies,” he said.

”Seven primes are now contracted under the Global Supply Chain Program, creating opportunities for Australian companies across all domains and offering training and mentoring to ensure they are well placed to be internationally competitive.”

The Primes currently participating in the program are Boeing, Raytheon, Thales, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman and Rheinmetall Defence Australia.
