LIG Nex1 Co Signs $145M Contract to Supply Maritime Radars to S.Korean Military
LIG Nex1's Marine Surveillance Radar-II

South Korean defense firm, LIG Nex1 Co., signed a 64 billion won ($145.2 million) contract to supply maritime surveillance radars which will be deployed along the country’s sea coast starting next year.

The South Korean Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on Friday signed the contract for the radar which was indigenously developed by LIG Nex1 Co.

According to the agency, the system boasts improved detection capabilities since it analyses the direction and distance of objects more precisely. Its smaller size and less power-consuming design will also give it a higher level of stability. The radome structure protects its surface from the effects of environmental exposure.

These systems will be put into operation between 2022 and 2026 in phases to replace aging units.
