Russia's Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV) unveiled an all-new cruise missile, the X-69 meant to be fired from the internal weapons bay of the Su-57 stealth jet.
At the just-concluded Army 2022 event last week, KTRV displayed to foreign journalists a full-size scale model of the missile, which KTRV executives said was 'production ready.' Its unique feature is that it can be fired from the internal weapons bay of the Su-57. Besides, it can also be mounted on the under-wing pylons of older jets such as the Su-35, Su-30SM and MiG-35.
A KTRV press release described the missile as a "multifunctional unobtrusive high-precision aviation cruise missile X-69."
"The X-69 is equipped with a combined navigation and automatic control system. The maximum flight range is up to 290 km, the speed is 700-1000 km / h, depending on the configuration, the weight of the warhead is 300-310 kg. It can be placed both on external suspensions and in internal compartments of platforms," the release said.
The X-69 was developed at the A. Ya. Bereznyak State Machine-Building Design Bureau (GosMKB) Raduga (part of KTRV), an enterprise specializing in the creation of high-precision missile weapons.
The missile is intended to take out highly protected installations. Due to its stealth features and short range, the missile is difficult to spot and intercept.
The KTRV is developing a slew of new weapons to be launched from the internal bay of the Su-57- both air-to-ground such as the X-69 and some missiles in development for air-to-air role.
A KTRV official told defensemirror.com during a media tour for foreign journalists that the missile has been tested "in field conditions" and will be fitted onto the Su-57 when the aircraft enters Air Force service sometime in 2023.
