Oman has formally requested the acquisition of 301 Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wireless-Guided (TOW) 2B Radio Frequency (RF) Missiles (inclusive of 7 "Fly-to-Buy" Missiles). The package also encompasses U.S. Government and contractor technical, program, logistics, and engineering support services, along with other logistical and program support components, all contributing to the estimated total cost of $70 million.
Raytheon Missiles & Defense, headquartered in Tucson, Arizona, is designated as the primary contractor.
The TOW 2B Radio Frequency Missile, or BGM-71F-7-RF, is a precision anti-tank missile system. It features a wire-guided system, enabling real-time control by the operator. With a maximum range of over 4 kilometers, it utilizes a tandem warhead to defeat armored targets by penetrating their reactive armor before detonating.
