Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS) has introduced its latest drone, the Ranger, at the ongoing World Defense Show in Saudi Arabia.
The event, running from February 4-8, has provided GIDS with an opportunity to showcase its new runway-independent tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The Ranger drone is marketed for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, reconnaissance, and artillery fire correction missions. Its multi-sensor gimbal payload incorporates high-definition electro-optical and medium-wave infrared sensors, along with a laser range finder for both day and night operations.
The drone claims a line-of-sight control range of 100 kilometers (62 miles) and is touted to operate autonomously with artificial intelligence-enabled payloads. Propelled by four small rotors for vertical lift and a larger pusher rotor for forward propulsion, the Ranger's design is presented as a solution for diverse mission requirements.
GIDS is also highlighting its Fatah II guided multi-launch rocket system, tested in December 2023, with an export version claiming a range of 290 kilometers. The company’s flagship UAV, the Shahpar-2, features a 100-km range and a satellite link, providing ISR coverage inside the borders of the enemy. GIDS has also produced quadcopters and tactical UAVs like the CATAPULT launch variant, offering a more tactical perspective of the battlefield.
The company aims to secure more export deals during the World Defense Show, offering local production as an incentive. GIDS confirmed in 2022 that it has exported products to 24 countries, including Indonesia, Peru, and has entered the African market.
