The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods to Malaysia for its F/A-18D fighters, along with related equipment.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of this potential sale today.

Malaysia has formally requested ten AN/AAQ-33 Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods, accompanied by technical data, publications, personnel training, software, training equipment, support services, and other logistical elements, amounting to $80 million.

This sale is intended to bolster Malaysia’s defense capabilities by integrating a standard targeting pod onto its F/A-18D platform. The principal contractors for this initiative are Lockheed Martin Corporation in Orlando, FL, and The Boeing Company in St. Louis, MO.
