Safran Helicopter Engines has received certification of its Aneto-1K engine by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
This development opens avenues for the introduction of the Leonardo AW189K helicopter into the Chinese civil market. The validation of the type certificate (VTC) by China follows the earlier type certificate (TC) granted by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in 2019.
The Aneto-1K, boasting a power output of 2,500-shp, stands as the first model in the Aneto engine family. Designed to cover a power range from 2,500 to 3,000 shp, it is tailored for super-medium and heavy helicopters, showcasing advanced engineering and performance capabilities.
The Aneto engines demonstrate a 25% increase in power and responsiveness compared to existing engines of similar size. This enhanced power margin amplifies helicopter capabilities across various mission profiles, including offshore operations, transport, search and rescue, and fire-fighting. Notably, it translates into augmented payload capacity during flights conducted under "hot and high" conditions, enhancing operational efficiency and versatility.
