Alliant Techsystems has received a $100 million contract from Lockheed Martin to produce solid rocket propulsion systems for all three stages of the U.S. Navy's Trident II (D-5) Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM). Under terms of the annual contract, ATK will continue to supply Trident solid rocket propulsion systems to the Trident II (D-5) Missile System Prime Contractor, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Sunnyvale, Calif, through calendar year 2013. Deployed in 1990, the Trident II (D-5) is the only U.S. submarine-launched strategic missile system in production today. "ATK is pleased to support Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Navy on this critical program and looks forward to continued success on this joint effort." said Blake Larson, President of ATK Space Systems group. "The success of the program was recently highlighted with the 127th consecutive successful test flight".
