The first photo of the latest Russian fifth-generation fighter, the single-engine Su-75 Checkmate, has appeared in Russian social media.
The photograph shows the Su-75 being attended to by a technician with the Su-57 stealth fighter in the foreground. The image is posted on the official telegram channel of UAC, the manufacturer of the Su-75 and Su-75 stealth fighters.
The text accompanying the Su-75 in the UAC post makes no mention of the status of the aircraft but highlights its unique feature- a V-tail with inclined surfaces and no central horizontal stabilizer.”The V-tail replaces the traditional vertical fins and horizontal stabilizers with two surfaces angled like the sides of a V. They are hinged at the tail of the aircraft and combine the functions of both the rudder and elevator,” the post says.
In the photo, the Su-75 shares the same paint scheme as the Su-57. The chequered paint scheme is exclusively used for fifth-generation stealth fighter in Russia.
This probably is the first prototype as all earlier revelations of the Su-75 were of the full scale mock-up.
The aircraft was first released at the Dubai Airshow 2021 where it was presented as a light, cost-efficient, fifth-generation fighter intended to compete with American stealth jets.
However, the aircraft's readiness for flight testing is currently unknown. The location where the photo was taken has not been revealed.
