France’s defense procurement agency DGA has tested new software versions of its Murin surveillance radar in a simulated electromagnetic warfare environment to assess performance under electronic threat conditions.

The announcement was made on August 1, 2025.

The tests were conducted by teams from the DGA Information Control expertise and testing center using the Baguera facility, a hybrid and mobile simulation platform designed to replicate realistic electronic warfare scenarios. Baguera is regularly used to evaluate critical defense systems such as radars, jammers, and seekers installed on military platforms including the Rafale fighter jet and Scorpion armored vehicles.

The Murin radar, deployed by French forces since 2018, can detect and locate a variety of moving threats—including pedestrians, land vehicles, aircraft, and incoming shells—at distances ranging from 12 to 27 kilometers. The system also features a firing assistance mode, allowing artillery gunners to fine-tune their strikes with greater accuracy.

This radar is installed on the Griffon VOA, the artillery observation variant of the Scorpion program, produced by KNDS France. The testing aims to ensure the radar remains operationally reliable in future combat environments where electronic interference is expected to be a major factor.
