Hanwha Aerospace has secured a third contract with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA) to deliver 24 K9 VIDAR self-propelled howitzers, expanding Norway’s fleet to 52 systems.
The deal was signed in Oslo in the presence of Hanwha Aerospace CEO Jaeil Son, NDMA Director General Gro Jære, Norwegian Army Chief Major General Lars Lervik, and South Korean Ambassador Min-Jeong Seo.
Deliveries are set for completion by 2027. The new howitzers will feature upgraded communications, full integration with the Norwegian combat system, and an Integrated Logistics Support package developed with Norwegian industry to ensure readiness through training and maintenance.
Norway’s follow-on order comes after the Army’s favorable evaluation of the K9 platform’s performance under earlier contracts. The deal also cements Hanwha’s foothold in Europe’s artillery market and opens the door for future cooperation, including potential exports of the Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher system.
