The first three BvS10 Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicles were handed over on September 22 in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, to Germany, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The handover marked the start of deliveries under a multinational program that will equip the Bundeswehr with new snow and terrain-capable vehicles.

Manufactured by BAE Systems Hägglunds, the BvS10—designated Husky 3 in Germany—is designed for extreme environments including snow, mountains, deserts, and swamps. The vehicles can carry troops, equipment, and supplies and are being introduced as successors to the Bv206 D, which has been in service with the Bundeswehr since 1984.

Germany has ordered 367 vehicles, with series deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2030. The Husky 3 will initially supplement the Bv206 D but could replace it entirely if additional purchases are made.

The Husky 3 is being introduced in several configurations, including command, troop transport, logistics, and potential variants such as mortar carrier and medical evacuation. It is one of the first projects financed under Germany’s Special Fund and was jointly procured with Sweden and the United Kingdom.

According to the Bundeswehr, the joint procurement reduces unit costs, streamlines logistics, and strengthens NATO interoperability. A framework agreement with Sweden, acting as the lead nation, underpins the program.

Before full deployment, the vehicles will undergo tactical and environmental testing in Norway, Spain, and the Alps to validate performance between minus 50°C and plus 70°C. They will also be equipped with new communications systems under the Bundeswehr’s Digitalization of Land-Based Operations program.
