Raytheon has cleared a major milestone in developing its new Advanced Electronic Warfare (ADVEW) system for the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, completing a critical prototype review.

The ADVEW system is designed to replace the aircraft’s existing electronic warfare suite, providing enhanced self-defense and survivability against emerging threats. The latest review validated the progress of the prototype’s software development, integration with flight-representative hardware, and alignment with government reference architecture.

Raytheon also completed a Test Plan Working Group to coordinate evaluation of the system’s in-flight performance. Upcoming steps include further demonstrations and delivery of shipsets for government-led integration testing.

The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet remains the Navy’s primary strike fighter, and the ADVEW upgrade is intended to provide faster response against advanced electronic threats in contested environments.
