Textron Systems announced the launch of its Damocles launched effect (LE) — a new weapon system designed to enhance combat effectiveness in peer warfare environments, on October 7.
The system integrates Textron’s second-generation Explosively Formed Penetrator (GEN2 EFP) to deliver top-attack, electronic warfare, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities. It can be deployed from ground or air platforms, offering operational flexibility.
The Damocles LE features autonomous tracking powered by artificial intelligence while keeping a human operator in the decision-making loop. Its precision-guided munition enables accurate engagement of high-value targets, and its low acoustic signature reduces detectability.
To minimize battlefield hazards, the system includes measures to prevent unexploded ordnance (UXO). Built with a Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA), it can host multiple payloads to support different mission profiles, including electronic warfare.
