The United Kingdom (UK) has made a strong commitment to DEFEXPO 2010. Over 20 companies have flown in some exhibiting for the first time at DEFEXPO 2010 others returning following a successful exhibition in 2008. A Demonstration Area is manned by soldiers from the UKTI DSO Export Support Team who will be on hand to offer advice on the exhibiting equipments relating to security and border/maritime protection either currently in service with the British Army or else due to enter service in the near future. All of the team have had operational experience. Richard Paniguian Head of UKTI’s Defence and Security Organisation leads the UK delegation accompanied by Alan Malpas Director for the Middle East and India. This commitment to the exhibition by UK companies, UKTI DSO staff and a British Army team reflects the continued strength of the important strategic relationship between the UK and India. Richard Paniguian said:. “India is a very important defence and security market for the UK and DEFEXPO 2010 gives UK companies a chance to showcase a range of capabilities, some that wil interest the Indian Armed Forces. The Demonstration Area with the theme of security and maritime and border protection reflects the interest of many countries in the region. I am also keen to see more industrial cooperation between UK and Indian companies in the defence and security sectors”.
