Northrop Grumman Selects Selex Galileo As Part Of NATO’s AGS Programme

Northrop Grumman has awarded Selex Galileo, a Finmeccanica company, a contract worth €140 million, as part of NATO's Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) programme, new defence strategy for security allies. Thirteen NATO countries are participating in the programme via their domestic industries Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and the United States. According to the terms of the contract, Selex Galileo will receive 12% of Northrop’s overall NATO AGS contract. Selex will take over as program leader for the Italian and will assume responsibilities for the Romanian and Bulgarian side of matters. Interoperability, connectivity and continuous surveillance will allow real-time information for airborne ground surveillance and situational awareness for the AGS system thus enabling NATO’s operational missions. The AGS program will include NATO’s airborne component based on Northrop Grumman Corporation Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) UAS platform. The ground-based parts of the system will deliver mission planning and control activities and data analysis and distribution.
